While Sheetz announced that it was reducing the price of Unleaded 88 and E85 gasoline through the 4th of July holiday weekend, regular unleaded gas across the state and the nation continues to go down at a slow daily pace.
Triple A reports that the national average cost for a gallon of gas this morning is $4.86 a gallon. That’s a two-cent drop from yesterday and a nine-cent drop from last week, but it is still a 25-cent hike from last month at this time. Pennsylvania’s average also went down, starting today at $4.94 a gallon. That’s a one-cent drop from yesterday and a six cent drop from last week. Last month, the average was $4.76 a gallon. Experts say that the drop at the pump can be attributed to the drop in the price of crude oil, which fell three dollars a barrel over the last week to $107 a barrel. No word yet on any demand expectations for the upcoming Independence Day weekend.
Indiana’s average has gone down slightly as well, to $4.97 a gallon. The lowest county-wide average in our region is Jefferson County at $4.94 a gallon. Cambria County is next-highest at $4.96 a gallon. Indiana is next on the list, followed by both Clearfield and Westmoreland Counties at $4.98 a gallon. The highest average in the region is Armstrong County, which is at $5.01 this morning.
According to Gasbuddy.com, gas prices throughout Indiana, Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville areas remain in the $4.95 a gallon area
