At this morning’s meeting, the Indiana County Commissioners approved the refinancing of loans connected with dormitory construction projects at IUP.
The resolution that was passed concerns the refurbishment of dorms in 2008 to create additional beds on campus. The first refinancing of the loan came in 2015, and a similar request was made today. A special hearing was held prior to the meeting this morning for those to have the opportunity to express opposition to the refinancing, and since no one showed up, that was taken as there was no public objection to moving forward with the refinancing.
The commissioners also approved a partnership agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concerning Phase 2 of the Act 167 Storm water Management Plan. This is a county-wide plan, and the county is mandated by the state to have a plan adopted along with a model ordinance. Phase one was completed in 2015 and the Army Corps of Engineers will work on storm water modeling and other technical project elements as part of phase two. Half of the cost is shared by them through their work.
Finally, the Commissioners issued a proclamation marking June 27th as Indiana Rotary Day in the county in celebration of Rotary being part of the community for over 100 years.
