Pennsylvania continues to gain back jobs that were lost at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Department of Labor and Industry reports the statewide unemployment rate stands at 4.6 percent for the month of May, unchanged from the previous month, and down 2 tenths of a percent compared to this time a year ago. L and I Secretary Jennifer Berrier says it’s the lowest jobless rate since October 2019.
Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force, the estimated number of residents working or looking for work, increased by 30,000 over the month. During April, jobs increased in nine of the 11 industry super-sectors with the largest gain coming in education and health services.
