The average cost of a gallon of regular gas in Pennsylvania took another steep climb over the past 24 hours.
Triple-A reports that the statewide average cost of a gallon of regular gas is at $5.03 as of this morning, marking a four-cent spike since yesterday, a 24-cent increase over the past week and a more than 50-cent increase over the last month. One year ago today, the statewide average cost of a gallon of gas was $3.18 per gallon.
As of today, 10 states carry gas price averages of $5 or higher, and it also marks a record-high for Pennsylvania.
Gas stations in Indiana County are also seeing sharp increases in prices.
Gasbuddy.com reports that the Keystone gas station in Indiana and the Martins General Store in Home hold gas price averages of $4.89, while other stations in Indiana, Shelocta, Blairsville, Homer City and Clymer report gas price averages of $4.99 as of this morning.
The national average cost of a gallon sits just under the $5 per gallon mark at $4.96 per gallon, according to Triple-A. This marks a 69-cent increase over the past month and a $1.91 increase since last year at this time.
