Those who died in service to our country were remembered yesterday in ceremonies held throughout Indiana County.
Throughout the day, parades and ceremonies were held in Indiana County to commemorate Memorial Day. Dave Hochstein gave the address at ceremonies held by American Legion post 493 in Homer City. He said that while Americans have the freedom to celebrate Memorial Day with picnics and gatherings, that freedom did come at a high cost.
Hochstein added that the American Legion started over 100 years ago to help those who were affected by their service in the military, with their main goals are to take care of veterans, educating the next generation on what happened and on patriotism and defending the country.
