Earlier this morning, the national Republican Party revealed that it is taking Dr. Oz’s side in opposing a lawsuit that could help David McCormick close the gap on the tight GOP race.
McCormick’s lawsuit prompted PA counties to follow a new federal courts decision to count mail-in ballots that lack a required handwritten date on the return envelope. Meanwhile, Dr. Oz urged counties not to count said ballots.
After last Tuesday’s primary election, Dr. Oz led McCormick by 0.07 percentage points.
RNC chief counsel Matt Raymer cites a potential compromise in voting integrity and that “election rules are meant to be followed.”
A final winner will not be revealed until June 8 and since the count is within the law’s 0.5 percent margin, it’s possible an automatic recount could occur.
