Average gas prices are rising to new highs on the national and state level.
Triple-A reports that the national average this morning is $4.45 a gallon, up two cents from yesterday, up 15 cents from last week and up 38 cents over the last month. Experts say that the cost of crude oil remains volatile at this time, and that has countered a decrease in demand for gasoline, which normally drives prices lower. The price of crude oil remains over $105 a barrel.
Pennsylvania’s average is now $4.59 a gallon, which is up a penny from yesterday, up eleven cents from last week and 42 cents from the last month.
Indiana County’s average is one of the lowest in the state at this point, at $4.48 a gallon. This falls in line with a recent trend that sees the western part of the state with the lowest county-wide gas price averages, the eastern side seeing the highest averages, and counties in the center of the state in the middle of the range.
Indiana’s average is actually the lowest in the region. Westmoreland County has the next highest average at $4.49 a gallon. Jefferson and Armstrong Counties each have a $4.51 a gallon average, Cambria’s average is $4.53 a gallon, while Clearfield has the highest average at $4.56 a gallon.
The lowest average in the state belongs to both Venango and Lawrence Counties at $4.47 a gallon. Bradford has the highest average at $4.75 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Clymer and Blairsville are holding at $4.49 a gallon this morning according to GasBuddy.com
