Earlier this morning, it was announced that Altoona Curve infielder Jared Triolo was the winner of the 2021 Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove after a prolific year with High-A Greensboro last season.
According to Baseball-Reference, Triolo garnered a .961 fielding percentage at third base last year with the Grasshoppers and committed just 10 errors in 102 games. At shortstop, which he played 44 innings at, he posted a perfect fielding percentage.
Triolo’s nomination marks the fourth consecutive year that a third baseman within the Pirates system won the award. The last was Ke’Bryan Hayes, who won it in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Triolo was also named the “Best Defensive Infielder” in the Pirates system earlier this year by Baseball America.
The Curve said in a news release that Triolo will receive his award prior to the team’s game on May 12 against the Somerset Patriots.

CURVE, PA – Curve infielder Jared Triolo, the 2021 Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award winner at 3B, will receive his award in a special on-field ceremony prior to Altoona’s game with the Somerset Patriots Thursday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m.
The ceremony will take place at approximately 5:45 p.m.
In addition to the special pre-game event, Thursday night at PNG Field is another THIRSTday with $2 16-oz Bud Light drafts, $2 22-oz sodas and $1 Juniata brand Kunzler hot dogs, presented By Q94. Other Thursday night promotions include another installment of the Curve Concert series, presented by Unlimited Cycle Center, with live music from Devin Sherman on the Budweiser Party Deck and the Curve will wear their special Mountain City Jerseys; as they will for each Thursday night home game throughout the 2022 campaign.
Following Triolo’s brilliant season at Greensboro in 2021, Pirates minor league third baseman have earned the award for four straight seasons at the position after Ke’Bryan Hayes took home the hardware in 2017, ’18 and ’19. Entering the 2022 season, Baseball America, named Triolo “The Best Defensive Infielder” in the Pirates minor league system.
Entering play on Thursday May 5, Triolo, who is ranked the No. 19 Prospect in the Pirates minor league system by MLB.com, is batting .286 with a .375 on-base percentage and 4 2B, 1 RBI and 4-4 in stolen bases in 20 games.
