The IUP Council of Trustees will meet all day today in executive session and this evening in public session, and among the topics that will be discussed is a possible new fee and an possible increased fee for the school’s paramedic program.
Normally, fee changes are typically presented at the Council of Trustee’s meeting in December, but this one is being presented now to go into effect for the Fall 2022 semester. One request will be to increase a non-refundable paramedic lab package fee from $500 to $1500. That non-refundable fee goes with the paramedic program fee, which is $6,000. The trustees will also look at a new fee, the Paramedic Program Extension fee of $2,300. The new fee will help offset the costs associated with students who are unable to complete the program in 12 months. It’s a one-time six-month extension that would give students not only more time to complete the program, but more time to prepare for required exams. The fee would only be applied to students who cannot complete the program in one year.
The public meeting will be held today at 5:00 at the KCAC.
