Indiana Borough Council is scheduled to meet tonight, and it will look at adopting two policies related to its digital presence.
Two of the action items on the proposed agenda for tonight include approving the virtual code of conduct policy. This concerns how people are to behave during the live meetings that are streamed through Zoom video chat. The code asks people to avoid demeaning, discriminatory or harassing speech; being mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants; attempting collaboration before going to conflict; and using some consideration and respect when talking or typing in the chat box. The borough also reserves the right to remove messages that violate the proposed code and to remove individuals who violates the code. The other policy concerns the borough’s Facebook page, which again allows the borough workers to delete messages that contain obscene language, defamatory or disparaging content, off-topic comments, comments that discriminate or promote illegal activity and violates other parts of the policy.
Discussion is also expected to continue tonight on the proposed Dunkin’ Donuts location at the corner of 5th and Philadelphia Streets. The issue has been the subject of much discussion, especially concerning parking on the property and the removal of some parking meters. No action items are planned in connection with the Dunkin property tonight.
The meeting will start at 7:00 PM at the Borough Council Boardroom. The meeting will also be streamed online, and a link to that can be found on the borough’s website, www.indianaboro.com
