A Blairsville man picked up in a warrant sweep by state police in Indiana and Westmoreland Counties now faces additional charges related to drugs found at his home.
According to reports, 32-year-old Brian Davenport, Jr. of Blairsville was found by police hiding out in an apartment in Blairsville on March 2nd and trying to escape by climbing over a nearby brick wall. He had been wanted on outstanding drug-related complaints, a charge of reckless endangerment and other crimes. After state police spotted what they thought was contraband inside the home on West Iron Alley, troopers obtained a search warrant and found 55 bricks of heroin along with six grams of cocaine, eight ounces of methamphetamine, 22 grams of marijuana, over $9000 in cash and several firearms. Police also found six stamp bags of suspected heroin labeled “Venom” and a silver container that had cocaine and a syringe inside it.
Davenport is now in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing on the new drug charges is set for March 23rd, while he is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25th for a guilty plea to reckless endangerment from October 22nd.
Many of the people arrested in the warrant sweep are from Westmoreland County, but another Blairsville man was arrested in that sweep. 36-year-old Douglas Blystone was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
