The Heritage Conference had three teams still alive in the chase for a District 6 championship entering last night’s action. So far, they are one-for-one, with two more teams playing tonight.

Tonight, two Heritage Conference teams get their chance at championships in the girls and boys Double-A title games from Mount Aloysius College.
The Homer Center Wildcats, the second seeded team in the district, will battle top seed Bishop McCort, which is led by Lexie Martin, a Center Township resident who leads the Crushers in scoring at 15.5 points per game. Homer Center is led by Macy Sardone, averaging 18.1 points per game, with Marlee Kochman and Molly Kosmack each averaging over 12. Kosmack is also averaging eight rebounds per game. Ayannah Elliott brings scoring and tight defense and Justly Sharp is a defensive force. Off the bench, Alayna Fabin brings scoring and defense to the Wildcats.
In the second game, top seed Portage will face number two Penns Manor for the boys title. The Mustangs will be a full member of the Heritage Conference next season. The 20-4 Comets of coach Andy Lansberry are led by big man Grant Grimaldi, who surpassed one thousand points for his career in these District 6 playoffs. Guards Bryan Koches and Ryan Gresko are three-point shooters, guard Max Hill’s penetration and Ashton Kourvina’s defensive aggressiveness are also key for Penns Manor.
Portage is 25-1 and is the defending Double-A champion. They’re a slick, ball-movement team led by Kaden Claar, who scores 19.3 points per game.

Also tonight, the Penns Manor girls will host Bellwood Antis to determine the third and fourth place order of finish, with both teams then destined for the state tournament.
An all-Heritage Conference boys consolation game at United will feature the Lions against West Shamokin, with both of those teams also headed into the state tournament next week.
