IUP had a tough opening night in the PSAC playoffs, warding off Cal U to advance to the weekend semifinals.

Coach Joe Lombardi says it was a great night of college basketball at the KCAC last night.
Lombardi says the task ahead of IUP is tough, and brings into better focus the accomplishment of the regular season, which IUP finished with a conference-best record of 26-2.
IUP is second in the latest NCAA regional rankings, will play Shippensburg on Saturday. Former IUP assistant coach Chris Fite is one of only two coaches to defeat IUP this season. Ship won at the KCAC 72-60 on December 19th.
Shippensburg beat East Stroudsburg last night, 86-74. Mercyhurst downed UPJ, 83-77 while Millersville eliminated West Chester, 70-54.
On Saturday at the KCAC, it will be Millersville against Mercyhurst at one o’clock, followed by IUP against Shippensburg at 3:30.
