IUP has announced that they will follow the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and will drop the requirement for masking for most of IUP’s indoor facilities and buildings.
The new guidance went into effect yesterday at noon. According to a letter sent to employees and students by IUP President Michael Driscoll, while the mask policy has changed for most of the facilities, visitors to individual offices, residence hall suites and rooms must follow the preference of the persons in the office or living area. President Driscoll also expects that the personal choice to wear a facemask will be respected, and that people should wear facemasks if they have Covid-19 symptoms, a positive test, or is exposed to someone who has Covid-19. Student-athletes are also asked to continue to follow the Covid-19 policies in place by the PSAC and the NCAA.
The university said they will continue to provide free masks to students, employees and visitors, and free vaccines and testing will continue to be provided to the university community through the campus health service.
