Several major cases in the Indiana County Court system will have pre-trial conferences today.
One of those conferences will be for Brady DiStefano of Westmont in Cambria County, who faces a charge of aggravated assault connected with the death of fraternity brother Caleb Zweig in February of 2017 after a fight between the two. Former Indiana County President Judge William Martin had dismissed charges of aggravated assault and criminal homicide, but Superior Court reversed the ruling, reinstating the one charge. After that, Judge Martin ruled the jury could not hear evidence that DiStefano’s role in the fight lead to Zweig’s death, nor could it hear testimony from the forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy. The Superior Court overruled that as well.
Four other pre-trial conferences today will deal with four suspects in the shooting death of Jaedyn Wright in October of 2020. Delmar Chatman and Terrion Gates of Johnstown, Isabella Edmonds of Indiana, and Isaiah Moore of Philadelphia all are charged in connection with Wright’s death near the IUP Campus. The four had gone to Wright to acquire marijuana off him, but that lead to the shooting.
