Citizens’ Ambulance Service today showed off a new piece of equipment that will help treat people and save lives in the field.

The new Zoll External Defibrillator comes with the latest technology to keep vital statistics concerning respiration and CPR, along with defibrillate anyone who goes into cardiac arrest. The new equipment was purchased through the money contributed by White and Center Townships and Indiana and Homer City boroughs. Citizens’ executive director BJ Pino said that the purchase was the result of a great partnership that he hopes will continue.
The idea started with a conversation between Citizens’ and State Senator Joe Pittman about how communities can help the ambulance service provider. That lead to an idea put forward by White Township Supervisor George Lenz that the township contribute $50,000 to Citizens’ and match any other donations from other municipalities in Citizens’ service area.
