State police from Kittanning are investigating a case where an elderly victim was scammed out of $10,000.
Police say this was reported on January 10th. A 79-year-old from Shelocta told police that he purchased 20 $500 gift cards at three different stores, then gave that information to the scammer. Police did not detail what scam was used. The victim purchased gift cards for Target and Apple Store along with Visa gift cards. Five more Apple store cards were purchased but he did not have a receipt to verify the location.
