The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce is getting behind an effort to bring federal funding to Indiana County though the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s “Good Jobs Challenge.”
The EDA is going to distribute $500 million for skills training for employers who are looking to hire workers. The Challenge will focus on three specific areas: System Development to establish and develop a regional workforce training system; Program Design, to develop the skills training curriculum and materials and hire the people to train workers; and Program Implementation, which will involve non-construction projects to train workers and connect them with quality jobs.
The starting point for the Good Jobs Challenge is an eight-question survey of employers that the Chamber of Commerce has posted.
