RICHLAND TOURNAMENT
The Homer-Center teams both dropped their games yesterday. The girls fell in the tournament championship game to host Richland, 51-43. Homer-Center cut its deficit to two points with under two minutes to play but Richland stretched its lead out the rest of the way from the foul line. Macy Sardone led the Wildcats with 15 points.
The Wildcats’ boys were beaten by Richland, 72-32.
In the tournament championship, the Portage boys got by West Shamokin, 69-64. Trevor Smulik led the Wolves with 25 points and Bo Swartz added 18.
NORTH STAR TOURNAMENT
Both the United teams will play for the championship at the North Star Tournament. The girls yesterday beat Tussey Mountain, 59-37, while the Lions’ boys downed Rockwood, 75-30. Ben Tomb scored 22 points for United in the boys’ game, and Brad Felix and Dylan Ambrose each had 11.
APOLLO RIDGE TOURNAMENT
The River Valley girls defeated Aquinas Academy 75-46. The Panthers’ Isabel Pynos scored 20 points, Julia Potts 17 and Ava Persichetti 12. River Valley will play Apollo Ridge, a 63-20 winner over Leechburg, for the title today.
The River Valley boys were beaten by Leechburg, 69-31. The Panthers committed 25 turnovers against the Leechburg pressure defense. Dom Speal led River Valley with 14 points. The Panthers will play Apollo Ridge in the consolation game today.
CENTRAL CAMBRIA TOURNAMENT
The Penns Manor girls used a 15-0 run in the second quarter and a 15-for-15 performance from the free throw line to beat Portage 44-28 and win the tournament.
