The Pitt Panthers dropped an ACC game to Notre Dame last night, 68-67, as the Fighting Irish’s Prentiss Hubb hit a contested jumper over Pitt’s Jamarius Burton for the game-winner with 6.3 seconds left.
Pitt had an eight-point lead more than halfway through the second half when a bad offensive set led to a turnover that fueled a Notre Dame run, sparked by Hubb’s back-to-back three-pointers.
Pitt coach Jeff Capel says breakdowns like that offensive miscue and failing to defend the perimeter were too costly.
Pitt fell to 5-8, and 0-2 in the ACC. It was their third one-point loss of the season. The Panthers will play at Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock.
