State police say a Rural Valley woman escaped injury Thursday afternoon when her car caught fire as she was driving in Cowanshannock Township. Police say 58-year-old Arlene Troutman was making the turn from Route 85 to West Main Street in Numine when the fire started. She drove to the intersection with Line Street before the car was completely engulfed in flames. She managed to get out safely.

Police also investigated another report of a fraudulent unemployment claim, this one filed on behalf of a 58-year-old Rochester Mills man.
