Saturday night at 8 pm the University of Pittsburgh will play for the Atlantic Coast Conference football championship for the second time since joining the league in 2013.
The 10-2 Panthers take on Wake Forest in Charlotte tomorrow and you’ll hear the game on WCCS- pregame begins at 6 pm.
Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, on the cusp of breaking school and conference records for touchdown passes, was named a finalist for the prestigious Walter Camp Award yesterday.
He’s considered a candidate for the Heisman Trophy as well.
Meanwhile Pitt wide receiver Jordan Addison leads the nation with 17 touchdown catches- one off the conference record held by Clemson’s DeAndre Hopkins.
Pickett’s 40 touchdown passes are one shy of the ACC record held by Deshaun Watson in 2016- remember Watson’s 41st touchdown pass was to Hunter Renfroe with one second left in the season- won the national championship for the Tigers.
Pickett also is tied with the legendary Dan Marino for Pitt’s career touchdown pass record with 79. The senior was named ACC Player of the Year earlier this week.
It will be the first time since 2014 Clemson hasn’t won the Conference title. Wake Forest last won the ACC Crown in 2006.
Pitt is a 2 ½ point favorite, but were hampered by a flu bug during the week.
