Indiana County’s unemployment rate continued to fall in the month of October.
The PA Department of Labor and Industry reported that Indiana County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate went down six-tenths of a percentage point, ending the month at 6.3%. Comparing Indiana County’s rate to surrounding counties, Westmoreland County reported a 5.2% unemployment. Jefferson County’s rate is 5.6%. Clearfield checked in with a 6/1% unemployment rate. Armstrong County’s rate is 6.8% and Cambria County’s rate is the highest in the region at 7.0%.
The lowest county-wide unemployment rate in the state is 3.4% in Chester County. Fayette County has the highest unemployment rate in Pennsylvania at 7.5%.
The total number of non-farm jobs in Indiana County was essentially unchanged over the month of October at 29,800 jobs. All nine of the published industry super sectors went essentially unchanged.
