After their five-game winning streak was snapped by Montreal on Saturday, the Penguins embark on a five-game road trip, the first four are in the northwest, starting tonight in Calgary.
Yesterday, the Pens put forward Bryan Rust on injured reserve after he suffered an undisclosed lower body injury on Friday during warmups in New York. Evan Rodrigues took Rust’s spot on the top line for the two games over the weekend. Drew O’Connor was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to take Rust’s place on the roster.
The Crosby line was dominant in the Montreal game. When they were on the ice, they and their defensive partners accounted for 31 of the team’s 50 shots on goal in the 6-3 loss. Most of the scoring came at the end of the game when Pittsburgh pulled its goalie, including an empty net goal by Crosby, who had three points on the night.
After the Penguins play at Calgary tonight, they’ll visit Edmonton on Wednesday, and then travel to Vancouver, Seattle, and then back on the east coast against Washington a week from tonight.
The pregame airs tonight on 92.5 FM U92 at 8 PM with the puck dropping shortly after 9.
