As drivers get set to go out for Thanksgiving celebration, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is going down slightly.
The statewide average is down to $3.59 a gallon this morning, according to Triple A. That’s down a penny from yesterday and last week, but three cents higher than last month. Last year at this time, gas prices were at $2.45 a gallon. The national average is also stabilizing at $3.39 a gallon. The averages are starting to level off as gasoline stocks went down slightly by 600,000 barrels. Demand did increase from 9.24 million barrels a day to 9.33 million barrels a day. Those normally would make gas prices go up, but with fluctuations in the price of crude oil, it is actually either stabilizing or putting downward pressure on prices. As long as crude oil prices remain at $80 a barrel, consumers should expect prices to remain at their high levels.
Indiana County’s average also took a slight dip to $3.57 a gallon this morning. In comparison to surrounding counties, both Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties have averages at $3.54 a gallon. Jefferson County’s average is $3.56 a gallon. Clearfield County’s average is now $3.62 a gallon, while Cambria County’s average is the highest in the region at $3.63 a gallon.
Pike County has the highest county-wide average in the state at $3.67 a gallon, while Lawrence County has the lowest average at $3.53 a gallon.
According to Gasbuddy.com, gas prices in Indiana, Shelocta, Homer City and most of Blairsville are at $3.55 a gallon. Clymer’s price is now $3.59 a gallon. One station, VP Fuels in Blairsville, is reported to have the lowest price in the county at $3.49 a gallon.
