Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says he is preparing the team to play Sunday’s game against the Chargers without Ben Roethlisberger and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both are on the covid-19 list, although Big Ben might be able to come off the list late this week.
The Steelers will practice today for the first time since Sunday’s tie against Detroit.
Tomlin says the team played poor fundamental football against the Lions, and had better turn it around quickly for a good Chargers team.
The coach said he will “leave the light on” for TJ Watt to play Sunday night. Watt suffered hip and knee injuries Sunday but MRIs were negative. Guard Trai Turner appears more ready to return from a sprained ankle than fellow guard Kevin Dotson is from his ankle sprain. Tomlin says he is “less clear” about Dotson and cornerback Joe Haden’s availability.
Wide receiver Chase Claypool, who missed Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, is expected to practice today.
