The Pirates continued shuffling their offseason roster yesterday, releasing infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans, pitcher Tanner Anderson, and catcher Taylor Davis.
The Bucs are making room on their 40-man roster for Friday’s Rule 5 draft. Players selected in the draft of unprotected minor league players must spend all of next season on the Major League roster.

The San Francisco Giants’ Gabe Kapler and Tampa Bay Rays skipper Kevin Cash were named the National league and American League managers of the year last night. For Cash, it was a rarity to win the award for the second year in a row. Only Atlanta’s Bobby Cox has done that before, in 2004 and 2005.
The Angels have agreed on a free agent contract with former Mets star Noah Syndergaard on a one-year, 21-million dollar deal. The right-hander has largely been out of commission over the last two seasons after having Tommy John Surgery in March of 2020.
Two-time All-Star pitcher Jose Berrios signed a seven-year extension with the Blue Jays, worth $131million.
