The Evergreen After School Club has announced that the program will be forced to stop operations due to the end of state funding at the end of the year.
In an announcement on the club’s Facebook page, the group’s funding through the 21st Century Learning Center grants will end on December 31st, leaving the group with no viable source of funding. The group does plan to reapply for funds in January of next year, but the funds would be awarded in October of 2022, leaving a ten-month gap in funding. The board of directors is currently trying to come up with some alternate funding, and they are in discussions with elected officials and school district representatives to explore possible solutions.
The club has served kids in the Indiana County area for the past 16 years, and has served upwards of 1500 students in kindergarten through 12th grade with before school, after school and summer programs to enrich the learning that goes on in the classroom.
The club is asking the public for their assistance as well, and you can contact David Janusek, the director of operations, by calling 724-910-1475.
