Coach Mike Tomlin will have to piece together a lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Chargers in Los Angeles.
Yesterday, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was confirmed positive with covid-19. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was confirmed positive on Saturday and missed Sunday’s game against Detroit. Tomlin is expected to update his status at today’s weekly news conference.
ESPN’s Adam Shefter reports that an unnamed source told him the MRI on linebacker TJ Watt’s hip and knee showed no structural damage. Watt was injured Sunday against the Lions in a collision with fellow linebacker Joe Schobert on a sack of the Lions’ Jared Goff.
The NFL Network reports the guard Kevin Dotson is “week-to-week” with his high ankle sprain, which could mean he will miss significant time. The other starting guard, Trai Turner, also left Sunday’s game with a sprained ankle. The NFL Network says cornerback Joe Haden is “day-to-day” with an injured foot.
The Steelers yesterday signed quarterback James Morgan to their practice squad. He was the Jets’ fourth-round draft pick last year but was cut this preseason. He was released from the Carolina practice squad last week after the Panthers signed former MVP Cam Newton.
