The national average price of a gallon of gas remains high, but it did decrease slightly over the last week or so. Pennsylvania’s average continues to see an increase.
Triple-A reports that the national average cost of a gallon of gasoline is $3.41 a gallon. That’s nearly a penny less than where it was a week ago, but it is ten cents higher than where it was a month ago. Last year at this time, the national average was at $2.12 a gallon. The reason for the recent slowdown and now dip in gas prices, according to Triple-A, is a seasonal adjustment in driving habits, but they expect gas prices to fluctuate instead of dropping due to the ongoing tight supply of crude oil.
Pennsylvania’s average is $3.60, which is a three-cent increase from last week and a 14-cent increase from last month at this time. Gas prices in Indiana last year were $2.47 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average is $3.55, which represents a slight decrease over the last week or so. Neighboring Armstrong County has the lowest average in the state with $3.53 a gallon, while Bradford has the highest average at $3.67 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Shelocta are around $3.55 a gallon, while Clymer’s price is $3.59 a gallon this morning, according to Gasbuddy.com
