The Penguins blew a two-goal lead with just over three minutes to play in regulation and lost to the Minnesota Wild, 5-4, in a shootout last night.
Kasperi Kapanen broke out of his early-season slump with a hat trick, his first three goals of the season. Jake Guentzel had the other Penguins’ goal.
The Pens again played the game without coach Mike Sullivan, center Sidney Crosby, and defensemen Brian Dumoulin, Marcus Pettersson, and Chad Ruhwedel, all of whom remain in in covid protocol.
The Penguins will travel to Chicago to play the Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
