The Penguins will practice today after having the day off yesterday, and Kris Letang is expected to be on the ice with them as he returns from having had covid-19. Letang missed four games, including the three games the Pens have lost in a row heading into tomorrow’s game against the Flyers at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins yesterday responded to a sexual assault lawsuit filed by Jarrod Skalde, a former assistant coach with the Wilkes Barre-Scranton minor league team. Skalde and his wife claim he was fired after he reported the assault, but the Penguins said that they acted immediately, despite the fact that Skalde waited seven months before reporting it, and that Skalde coached another full year with the Penguins organization before being let go because of pandemic staff reductions.
Skalde says the team told him to keep it quiet when he accused former head coach Clark Donatelli of sexually abusing Erin Skalde on a road trip in 2018. The lawsuit names Penguins’ owner Mario Lemieux, former assistant general manager Bill Guerin, who is the GM of the Minnesota Wild, and others.
