Pitt senior running back Anthony Davis, who led the Panthers in rushing two years ago but has played little this season, has reportedly entered the transfer portal and left the team. Because he played in only three games this year, Davis will still have one more year of eligibility. He ran for 991 yards and seven touchdowns, with 41 receptions out of the backfield in his Pitt career.
ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has put the Panthers’ Kenny Pickett at the top of his quarterback list in next year’s NFL Draft. He compared Pickett to current Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who rose from relative obscurity to become the number-one overall draft choice two years ago. Mississippi’s Matt Corral is ranked second on Kiper’s list.
Finally, high school junior wide receiver Zion Fowler of Jersey City, New Jersey, has made a verbal commitment to join Pitt, becoming the first recruit for the class of 2023 for coach Pat Narduzzi.
