Coach Mike Sullivan says the referee explained to him that he lost sight of the puck when he blew the whistle early on what should have been a Penguins’ goal by Brock McGinn in the first period. He said the disallowed goal could have made a difference.
After a hot start to the season, the Penguins suffered their first loss in regulation. Sullivan says the Penguins, with a lot of youngsters playing in place of injured stars, isn’t always going to get everything right.
Sullivan likes what he sees of his young players, who he says are fighting hard to remain with the Penguins when the stars get back to the lineup.
The coach said yesterday that forward Jeff Carter remains asymptomatic after testing positive for covid-19 last week. However, defenseman Kris Letang does have symptoms, so his recovery could take longer.
The Pens return to the ice tomorrow night against Calgary at PPG Paints Arena.
