In his Covid-19 report to the Indiana County Commissioners Wednesday morning, Emergency management Director Tom Stutzman said that the county still lags behind other counties when it comes to getting fully vaccinated.
Stutzman quoted the recent CDC report that said 48.2% of eligible Indiana County residents are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, but he also expects to see that number go down.
Speaking of vaccines, Stutzman said that since mid-August, when the boosters started being distributed, 4208 Indiana County residents have received a Covid booster shot, with most of them going to adults 65-years-of-age or older.
In other business, the Commissioners approved a “notice to proceed” order for Delta Airport Consultants, Inc. concerning the taxiway rehab project at Jimmy Stewart Airport. The Commissioners also approved two Penndot Multimodal Transportation Fund grant applications. One of them is for up to $2.5 million for the design, bidding and construction of the phase 1 site work for a hangar at Jimmy Stewart Airport. The other is for up to $500,000 for preliminary engineering design for eligible transportation improvements to the areas of Wayne Avenue, Hospital Road, Carter Avenue and 7th Street corridors of White Township and Indiana Borough.
