Bad news for the Penguins yesterday as the team placed center Jeff Carter and goaltender Tristan Jarry on the covid-19 protocol list.
Coach Mike Sullivan said Carter tested positive but did not say if Jarry did. Both are asymptomatic. The protocol requires them to be isolated for 10 days but they can rejoin the team if they are vaccinated, asymptomatic and test negative in two consecutive days. The Penguins have indicated that all of their players are vaccinated.
The Pens return to action tomorrow night against Toronto at PPG Paints Arena. Sullivan said Sidney Crosby will not play. Evan Rodriguez took Carter’s place centering the top line, with Jake Guentzel and Kasperi Kapanen on the wings.
Defenseman Mark Friedman returned to practice after suffering an undisclosed injury in practice earlier in the week.
