The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry says that unemployment in Pennsylvania fell slightly in the month of September.
The rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.2 percent last month. It also represents a nine-tenths of a point decrease from September of 2020. The U.S. unemployment rate went down four-tenths of a point to 4.8 percent.
The state’s civilian labor force went down by 16,000 individuals over the month. This was mostly due to a drop of 15,000 in unemployment, which fell for the seventh consecutive. The total number of non-farm jobs also went down over the month by 7,900 to 5,733,700. The number of jobs increased in seven of the 11 industry super-sectors. The largest movement was a drop of 16,500 government-related jobs.
County unemployment statistics will be released later this month.
