Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not hold his weekly news conference yesterday because the team is in the bye week, but he did meet with the media after a day of practice.
Tomlin says they are using the bye week to address some “issues” that have emerged with the team over the first six games.
Tomlin says the bye will give some players a much-needed rest before a tough stretch of games, while others, especially younger players, will have a chance to get some work in.
Tomlin said defensive end Stephon Tuitt continues to make progress toward a return to action, but he had no information on when that might be. Tuitt has not practiced with the team yet this season because of a knee injury that required surgery prior to the start of the season.
The Steelers will play the Browns when they return to action on October 31st. The Browns play tomorrow night against Denver.
