The Penguins have started the season with a 2-0-1 record and they began an eight-game homestand Saturday with a 5-2 win over Chicago. Coach Mike Sullivan passed Dan Bylsma for the most wins in franchise history with 253 (Eddie Johnston is third with 232).
Sullivan is pleased with the way the Penguins have started, especially without star centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in the lineup. He says the Penguins have plenty of firepower to win games, as long as they’re playing the right way.
Defenseman P.O. Joseph was returned to Wilkes-Barre-Scranton yesterday. He was called up last week when fellow blue-liner Mike Matheson was scratched from the lineup with an undisclosed ailment. Joseph’s return to the minors may mean Matheson is ready to rejoin the lineup.
The Penguins had the day off yesterday. They will take on the Dallas Stars tomorrow night on “Mike Lange Night.” Each fan will get a sign with one of Lange’s trademark phrases. The airtime will be 6:00 on 92.5 FM U92.
