State Representative Jim Struzzi and State Senator Joe Pittman have announced that a tax credit and a low-interest loan have been approved for the development of affordable housing in the Blairsville area.
The Blairsville Family Housing Development will be located on Veterans Drive at Grandview Drive and will feature 15 one-story buildings that will consist of 15 one-bedroom, 13 two-bedroom and two three-bedroom units. Four of these units will be handicapped accessible. The project will receive $865,879 in tax credits and a $1.3 million. The loan carries a zero percent interest rate with a 40-year term.
State Representative Jim Struzzi said he was happy to see the investment into Blairsville, saying that programs like the one that is providing the funding provides great opportunities to meet housing needs of county residents. Senator Pittman said that as the cost of living goes up, so does the need for affordable housing, and that the construction of these houses will give area families some relief.
