David “Butch” Laney, 70 of Black Lick, died on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Twin Lakes Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Greensburg, PA from complications of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
He was born November 27, 1950 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Earl Laney and Margaret (Klein) Laney. He had retired from the coal mines and also worked at Gaston Lumber. Butch was a member of the Blairsville Eagles #1488.
He enjoyed doing reenactments of the French & Indian Wars and giving tours at his Naeskahoni Town. He loved the outdoors including hunting for morel mushrooms, gardening and participating in the farmers markets with his daughter.
Butch is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dianna (Pandullo) Laney, Black Lick, PA; daughter, Pamela Laney & Josh Widdowson, Lucernemines, PA; daughter, Jolene Kopsic & husband, Don, Blairsville, PA; daughter, Kryssie Barton & husband, Dean, Blairsville, PA; grandchildren: Krystaleena Laney & Ricky Kopsic; sister: Phyllis Pickett & husband, Tom, Clearwater, FL, Ruthann Cordell & husband, Ronnie, Madisonville, TN, Patricia Cipolla & husband, Tony, Naples, FL, Nancy Skultedy & husband, Terry, Homer City, PA and Barbara Laney, Homer City, PA; brothers: Charles Laney & wife, Debbie, Palmerton, PA, James Laney & wife, Alice, Homer City, PA and William Laney, Ft. Louden, PA; mother-in-law, Phyllis Pandullo; sister-in-law, Angie Smith & husband, Greg; sister-in-law, Melissa Irwin & husband, Terry and also many Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Peg Thorn & June Sarra; brothers, Earl “Sonny” Laney & Elgin Raymond Laney and brother-in-law, Rudy Pandullo.
In keeping with Butch’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. The James F. Ferguson Funeral Home in Blairsville is assisting the family.
