A Seward man who escaped custody as he was being taken to prison in August of last year is in Indiana County Court today for a crime allegedly committed while he was on the run.
Court documents show that 46-year-old Michael Paul Boring is due in court today for a plea court hearing concerning a charge of retail theft that happened September 6th of 2020.
Boring had escaped police custody on August 29th of 2020 while he was taken to Westmoreland County Prison by Seward Police for multiple arrest warrants for drug possession, fleeing police, criminal trespass and conspiracy to that charge. He claimed he was going to throw up, so police pulled over and let him out of the car. That’s when he started to run away, still in handcuffs. He remained at large until police caught him again on September 13th at the Martin General Store on Admiral Peary Highway in Cambria Township.
No details are available on the alleged theft. His hearing will be held in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco. He’s been in Westmoreland County Prison until September 8th of this year, when he was transferred to Indiana County Prison to await today’s hearing.
