On Hawk Talk on U92 last night, IUP head coach Paul Tortorella talked about this Saturday’s game at Slippery Rock.
Tortorella said the Crimson Hawks know how big a game it is, and even if coaches try to downplay it, older players will let the younger players know how special it is.
IUP’s Duane Brown was named yesterday the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week after gaining 75 yards on three punt returns, including a career-long 62-yarder. In all, Brown totaled 212 all-purpose yards and a touchdown in the game. It’s his third PSAC player of the week designation.
PITT
After a week off, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi says his players are anxious to get to Blacksburg for Saturday’s game at Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 2-3 but gave Notre Dame all they wanted before falling to the Fighting Irish, 32-29.
Pitt has not won in Blacksburg since 2015. Narduzzi says the Hokies are a stiff challenge.
The game Saturday kicks off at 3:30 on WCCS. Pitt announced yesterday that the nationally-televised October 23rd game at Heinz Field against Clemson will also kick off at 3:30.
