CROSS COUNTRY
Marion Center’s Heritage Conference winning streaks in boys and girls cross country continued yesterday with victories over River Valley and Cambria Heights. The Stingers’ girls wins were numbers 76 and 77 in a row, dating back to 2010. The boys’ wins were numbers 46 and 47 in a row.
Marion Center’s boys also defeated Kiski Prep’s runners in the meet.
River Valley downed Cambria Heights in girls play and Cambria Heights’ boys defeated River Valley. The Highlanders beat Kiski Prep, which topped River Valley.
No individual times were supplied by Marion Center or Cambria Heights. The top runner for River’s Valley’s boys was Frankie Benko, with a personal best of 18:17. River Valley’s top girl was Lexi Kepple, who also ran a personal best, 23:24.
JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL
The Indiana Junior High football beat Derry, 34-8 yesterday. Levi Porter scored on runs of 10, 2, and 34 yards. Dominic Fanella also found the end zone on a 7 yard run and Jackson Albert scored on a 14 yard run. Porter also ran in for 2 extra points. Roman Jones had an interception. Indiana is now 3-1, with a home game next Thursday against East Allegheny.
