Coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly news conference at noon today, and he will certainly be asked about the controversial offside call against Joe Haden on a Green Bay field goal attempt that was blocked and returned for a touchdown by Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Packers made the second field goal attempt, making for a ten-point swing in the game. Haden reiterated yesterday that he was not offside, but said he and Fitzpatrick broke from the line so cleanly that the official mistakenly thought they had crossed the line early. Tomlin will most likely deflect the question today and move on.
Haden also said he wants an explanation about why the play was not reviewable. Offside is not a reviewable flag, but all scoring plays are supposed to be reviewed.
A minor roster move by the Steelers yesterday: they signed nose tackle Eli Ankou to the practice squad. He has been with seven NFL teams since entering the league out of UCLA in 2017 and spent training camp with the Atlanta Falcons.
