Homecoming weekend is now in full gear, and today will be a lot of the traditional activities, including the parade and the homecoming football game.
Many of the homecoming activities return after a year’s hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The parade will feature many of the traditions, including floats from the university’s greek life community. This year’s theme is Decades, which according to Brianna Drylie of the Service Learning Office, casts a pretty wide net for float possibilities.
And along with the IUP Marching band, many of the marching bands from Indiana County’s High Schools will take part.
The parade will start today at 10:00, but expect some street closures near 11th and Philadelphia Streets for parade staging areas. The parade will take the traditional route east on Philadelphia Street to sixth, then turn on sixth to go to Church Street, head West on Church to Oakland avenue, then southwest on Oakland to the end of the parade route on 11th Street.
If you can’t make it to the parade this year, Renda Media and Digital will have you covered with a live video stream of the 2021 Homecoming Parade starting around 10:00 this morning. Click the link below to stream the parade.
After the parade, there will be the Crimson Huddle at 11:00 at the KCAC, with the game to follow at 2:00 PM. You can hear the game at 1:30 on U-92.5 FM and the U-92.5 Sports Channel at u92radio.com.
