State police are preparing for a busy IUP Homecoming weekend, and they say residents can expect an increased police presence from Thursday through Sunday.
As in the past, troopers from the Indiana barracks will be supplemented by members of surrounding stations in Troop A as well as members of the Tactical Mounted Section and Canine Unit, the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, and additional department resources. Roving patrols and increased traffic enforcement will be in effect, with police watching out for criminal activity and traffic violations.
Troopers on horseback will be on patrol, and that comes with a reminder that state law makes it a third degree felony to “taunt, torment, tease, beat, kick, or strike a police animal.
Police say they if you spot any suspicious activity, as always you should call 911.
