On Monday Night, the Marion Center School Board approved an increase in wages for support staff substitutes.
The increase is roughly $1 per hour across varying positions, but Superintendent Clint Weimer said that it will help the district remain competitive for these substitutes.
In other business, the board approved with regret the retirement of Connie Bunyak, who has served the district for over 20 years as a food service employee. Weimer said that she knew a lot of the kids that came through the school over the years and her presence will be missed.
The board also approved second readings of policies dealing with discrimination, weapons, terroristic threats, discipline in schools, and reports of student misconduct, along with the first reading on a policy for trauma-informed approach. These are changes to the policy to stay in line with recommendations from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
