The police department was the main focus of activity at last night’s Blairsville Borough Council Meeting.
Borough Manger Mike Baker said that council gave him and Police Chief Lou Sacco authorization to purchase a new police vehicle. This will replace one that was lost earlier this year. Council also authorized the hiring of Jeremy Pettis as a full-time officer and they are starting the process to find a part-time officer.
Baker said that even though they are down a man with the recent departure of a part-time officer, the department under Sacco remains fully staffed.
In other business, the 2022 budget was discussed. The finance committee will be starting their own discussion on the budget soon with the goal of having a draft budget ready for November’s meeting.
