Clymer Borough council met on Tuesday and approved some paperwork for a grant and loan program that will be used to help the police department.
The program is from the USDA and will be used for the purchase of two new police cruisers. According to Borough Manager Sonya Shrenkel, the cost of the cruisers comes to $83,912. The borough is seeking $46,000 in grants and another $34,800 in low-interest loans. The borough is putting up a local match of $3,112.
In other business, Shrenkel said that there had been some reported vandalism over the weekend at Sherman Street Park. Shrenkel said that someone did see the vandalism in action.
The vandalism included the unidentified vandals ripping the park’s sign off the posts, stacking picnic tables and breaking a garbage can.
